What is the WEEE Scheme?
At The Vape Shop, we proudly offer a recycling service for hardware and electronic goods as part of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations. These regulations aim to minimise the amount of electronic waste sent to landfills or incinerated by promoting the recovery, reuse, and recycling of electrical products. This initiative supports a more sustainable environment by reducing pollution and conserving natural resources.
Why Recycle?
Most electronic devices contain materials that can be recycled or repurposed. Without proper recycling, hazardous substances from these devices can leach into the soil and water, harming both wildlife and humans. Recycling ensures these materials are handled responsibly, helping to protect the environment.
How Our WEEE Scheme Works
We provide a free recycling service for customers purchasing new electronic devices. When you buy a new item from us (e.g., a mod or vape kit), you can return your old, equivalent item for recycling. This applies whether the old device was purchased in-store, online, or by mail order.
Here’s how you can participate:
In-store recycling: Bring your old device to any of our physical stores within 28 days of purchasing a new item.
Mail recycling: If you cannot visit a store, mail your old device to our warehouse. A small postage fee applies. Please send your items to:

Look for the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on your old device’s packaging. This universal icon signifies that the item can be recycled through our scheme or any other approved WEEE recycling program.
What Happens to Recycled Goods?
Recycled items are sorted, dismantled, and processed to recover materials like metals, plastics, and glass. These materials are then reused by manufacturers or used in waste-to-energy (WTE) processes to generate electricity and heat. Over 99% of our collected items are repurposed or utilised for energy recovery, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
Recycling E-Cigarettes
To recycle your e-cigarettes responsibly, follow these simple steps:
Dismantle the device: Separate components such as the battery, cartridge, and tank.
Recycle the battery: Deposit batteries in designated battery bins to prevent toxic waste.
Clean the cartridge: Rinse used cartridges to remove any liquid nicotine.
Separate metals and plastics: Remove metal parts from tanks and recycle the plastic or glass components according to local recycling guidelines.
Taking these small steps ensures that even the most intricate vape components are disposed of in an eco-friendly manner.
