The Death Knell For Royal Mail

Great news The Vape Shop is ditching Royal mail and switching to DHL Next Day. After suffering a nightmare of poor service, late and lost orders, and orders arriving with just empty packets. We have finally decided to ditch what was once the best postal service. We are now setting up a new account with DHL and will utilize their Next Day delivery service with detailed tracking and customer text notification.

Royal Mail Death Knell

While we stand with postal workers receiving decent wages, unfortunately for some time now the quality of delivery service from Royal Mail has caused a headache for both our customers and ourselves. Here are a few of the issues our customers and we have faced:

  • Next Day Delivery NOT being next day
  • Tracking just shows it’s been received by Royal Mail (one customer’s order was two weeks in the system) but nothing else
  • Package received empty (contents missing)
  • Royal Mail insurance not paying for lost order amounts, too much administrative bureaucracy to claim.
  • Unhelpful customer service when customers have rung in to track orders.

I could go on!

Needless to say, our shipping is our responsibility, so we have decided to ring the death knell for Royal Mail. May they rest in peace.

Over the years, The Vape Shop has seen many thousands of customers, both new and returning. In this time we have seen lots of smokers switch to vaping and completely give up tobacco cigarettes. What has been interesting is understanding the reasons behind new customers deciding to switch to vaping. 

Surprisingly the No1 factor for people switching, by far, is NOT health. It’s MONEY. Personally, I switched to vaping back in 2011 because of my health; smoking was killing me and affecting my health dramatically. Once I switched to vaping my health and whole life improved. So I naturally thought, like me, health would be the driving force behind most smokers to switch, but I was wrong. Most new vape shop customers just simply can’t afford to smoke anymore; the average price of a pack of twenty cigarettes is around £13.00. Six packs of cigarettes a week works out to be £78.00 (£312.00 per month!). This cost is astronomical compared to the average of £10’s per week (£40.00s per month) for vaping. Despite money being the No1 reason people switch to vaping, I would like to look at why e-cigarettes are a better health option than tobacco.

Why Are E-Cigarettes Safer Than Cigarettes

COPD, Emphysema and other lung diseases, plus cancer, are all caused by cigarette tar. The tar is the substance contained within cigarettes that makes smoker’s fingers yellow, we would call it nicotine stains, but it is, in fact, caused by the tar in cigarettes. Tar also contains lots of carcinogens and these carcinogenic particles cause cancer. We are inhaling cancer-causing particles with every inhale from a cigarette. The effect of tar entering the lungs causes the bronchial tubes (small tubes) that absorb the precious air we need to close up, reducing oxygen intake into the blood. The other damaging aspect of tar is that it negatively impacts the cilia hairs in the lung that are needed to protect the lungs from dirt, foreign objects and infection. 

E-cigarettes contain ZERO TAR, which means that all the health hazards associated with smoking-related to tar do not occur with vaping (using an e-cigarette).

If you have not heard of the disposable pod system, you must have lived under a rock in some remote and vape-unfriendly place. Every vape shop and every vape website has them on offer. The demand by vapers for disposable pods has outperformed the sale of all other vape devices. What Is A Disposable Vape Pod

Up to about a year ago, the vaping industry primarily focused on the sale and demand of refillable, reusable, and long-lasting vape devices. Standard reusable pod systems have been around for a few years now. Pod systems are generally slim, low-to-medium powered vape devices, mainly with plastic tanks (pods). The difference between a pod vape device and a vape mod is that vape mods are used to deliver a vape experience with MTL or DTL vaping and produce vape clouds. A pod device is simply used for the delivery of high nicotine. Vape pods usually have pre-filled pod tanks that must be switched when the liquid runs out, or the coils fail. Vape mods have tanks that can be refilled and have their coils replaced without losing the tank.

The Disposable Pod

Disposable pods are very simply exactly that, disposable. When the battery or juice runs out, you simply throw them away and use another one. Filled mainly with 20mg of nic salt, these pods priced around £4.50 on average can last a user two to three days. They do away with the need for complicated maintenance, fiddly coil replacement and messy filling. The user simply opens the package, inhales and vapes away. When the device stops working, the user simply disposes of them.

One of the most experienced problems experienced with new vapers of middle age and above is the complication of using, filling and maintaining vape mod devices. Many vapers find it overly complicated with fussy to fill tanks, adjustable wattage, coil ratings, the replacement of dead coils and so on. With disposable vape pods, the user simply unwraps and inhales simple. No mess and no fuss!

No Maintenance Required

A considerable difference that vapers like is the complete lack of any maintenance required by disposable pods. The user does not need to do anything but inhale. All disposable and throwaway pods come with the battery already charged, coil in place and pre-filled with nicotine e-liquid. Everything is ready for the vaper to start vaping immediately. Standard vape mod users tend to vape regularly; vape mods/devices can use low nicotine e-liquid such as 0mg, 1mg, 2mg, 3mg, etc. This means some vapers use their devices a lot and can find themselves vaping frequently. The high nicotine disposable pod does away with the need for frequent vaping because of the large dose of nicotine with every vape.

Disposable Pods Are Cheap

One aspect of vaping that most vapers know is that vaping can be expensive, especially when a smoker first transfers over to vaping. The expense of buying your first whole vape kit or replacing a damaged or old mod can be high. On top of the initial purchase price are the ongoing costs associated with buying e-liquid, replacing coils, tanks and batteries. All this can add up. However, the average price of the disposable pod is around £4.50. This makes it a cheaper option than a packet of tobacco cigarettes and gives a false sense of saving significant amounts of money compared to splashing out on a complete vape mod kit. Let’s say that a disposable pod lasts on average two days. A vaper could be spending around £55.00 roughly every month compared to approximately £28.00’s per month with a standard reusable device.

This will be a good thing for vapers as disposable pods become cheaper and cheaper, but the standard vape shop would have to sell in mass to gain some of the profit they would typically secure on the larger vape mod sales.

Nic-Salt B has a practically neutral pH (around 6.5), which means it offers a really silky smooth vape experience. In tests, Nic-Salt B has shown to provide the best in taste, reduction of throat irritation, and nicotine stability maintenance, making it one of the primary and preferred salts for e-liquids.

Why Should I Use Nic-Salt?

If you are a non-sub-ohm vaper, there are three main reasons you would choose to use one of the three types Nic-Salts instead of the traditional distilled nicotine that is generally used. With masks now mandatory in all UK stores the high-street is waiting with baited breath to see if this new addition to public safety will impact on the retail sector. Will shoppers decide to keep buying online, as they did during the lock-down, rather than walking around with a mask on their face? The retail industry is one of the biggest industries to be negatively impacted from the COVID-19 pandemic. Now just as the lock-down is easing and things are slowly getting back to normal on the high-street, this new health precaution (wearing a mask in all shops), which is a legal requirement, could see the industry knocked again.

FREE Masks To All Our In-Store Vape Shop Customers

To help customers The Vape Shop has acquired masks that will be offered FREE to all customers that enter our vape stores, if they have forgotten to bring one out with them. While it is not mandatory to wear a mask when outside in public, a member of the public must wear one when entering any store. This new mask law comes into play on the 24th July 2020. We envisage that a lot of people will forget or not be aware of this requirement initially, especially in the first couple of weeks. So if you buy your e liquids or vape products from our high-street vape shops don’t worry. We can provide you with a free triple ply mask that you can wear while in our stores and take with you when you leave.

 

Along with offering free masks we also provide all customers access to Purell Advanced hand sanitiser and apply social distancing access and positioning while inside our shops. So far, everybody has been accepting and encouraging of the new in-store Covid safety guidelines that help protect them and our staff.
