New UK Vape Tax Starts 1 October 2026 – What It Means for E-Liquid Prices

0

From 1 October 2026, a new UK government tax called Vaping Products Duty will come into force.

This is not something specific to The Vape Shop. It is a UK-wide law that will apply across the whole vaping market, including vape shops, online sellers, wholesalers, manufacturers and imported products.

The new duty applies to all e-liquid, whether it contains nicotine or not.

That means 10ml bottles, 30ml bottles, 120ml shortfills and other vaping liquids will all be affected.

Why are prices going up?

The price increase is mainly due to the new HMRC vaping duty.

The duty rate is expected to be:

22p per ml of e-liquid

So the more liquid in the bottle, the more duty is added.

This duty is added before VAT, which means VAT also applies on top of the new duty amount. This is why the final price increase can feel quite large, especially on bigger bottles.

What will the new prices look like?

Product / Strength Current Price HMRC Duty + VAT Increase New Total Price
10ml Bottles — All strengths £4.00 + £2.64 £6.64
30ml Bottles / Kits — 1mg to 11mg £10.00 + £7.92 £17.92
30ml Bottles / Kits — 13mg, 15mg & 18mg £10.00 + £10.03 £20.03
120ml Bottles / Kits — 1mg to 15mg £25.00 + £31.68 £56.68
120ml Bottles / Kits — 18mg £25.00 + £36.96 £61.96

Please note: Higher nicotine options in some bottle sizes cost more because more supplied liquid / nicotine shots are required.

This affects the whole UK market

We know price rises are never welcome, so we want to be clear: this is not a shop-only increase.

From 1 October 2026, the new rules will apply across the UK vaping industry. Any legal vaping product released for sale will need to have the correct duty paid and, where required, a duty stamp attached.

So whether you buy from us, another vape shop, an online shop, or a wholesaler, the new rules will affect pricing across the market. Read more on the Vape Products Duty/Tax here…

Can I stock up on e-liquid before the tax starts?

Yes.

If you want to keep paying current prices for as long as possible, the best thing to do is stock up before 1 October 2026.

Buying your usual e-liquids before the new duty starts means you can delay the impact of the higher prices for a while.

This may be especially useful if you regularly buy:

  • 10ml nicotine e-liquids
  • 30ml bottles
  • 120ml shortfills
  • nicotine shots
  • your regular favourite flavours

How long can e-liquid last if stored properly?

Unopened e-liquid can often last 1–2 years when stored correctly in a cool, dark place, such as a cupboard or drawer.

For longer-term storage, some customers choose to put unopened bottles in the freezer. Freezing may help preserve e-liquid for much longer, potentially up to 5 years, although quality can still change over time.

For best storage:

  • keep bottles away from heat
  • avoid radiators, heaters and warm appliances
  • keep bottles out of direct sunlight
  • make sure caps are tightly sealed
  • keep all e-liquid safely away from children and pets

If you freeze e-liquid, allow it to return to room temperature before use and shake it well.

Should I stock up before October?

That depends on how much e-liquid you normally use.

But if you know your regular flavours and strengths, stocking up before 1 October 2026 could help you avoid the new higher prices for longer.

For example, if you use a lot of 120ml bottles, the new duty will make the biggest difference because the duty is charged per ml.

Our advice

If you vape regularly and already know what you like, it makes sense to plan ahead.

The new tax starts on 1 October 2026, and prices are expected to rise across the UK market from that date.

We recommend:

Stock up before 1 October 2026 if you want to keep paying current prices for as long as possible.

We’ll keep customers updated as more details become available and will continue doing everything we can to keep pricing fair, clear and easy to understand.

Vaporesso Armour Ultra Review: Real World Testing of a Tough 100W DTL Kit

0

Hands-on performance notes, daily usability and honest impressions

I have been using the Vaporesso Armour Ultra solidly for a week, taking it everywhere I normally take my daily DTL kit. That means it came with me in the car for early morning runs, sat on a café table while I worked, and lived in my hoodie pocket during a few long dog walks where I usually forget my device is even there. Spoiler: you don’t forget this one. Not because of the weight, but because it feels like a tiny chunk of industrial equipment that also vapes brilliantly.

What I wanted to know going in was simple. Is the Armour Ultra just a flashy rugged box with a huge battery, or does it actually perform well enough to be a genuine all-day DTL companion? After a week, I can say it’s both. It hits hard, stays cool, handles high wattage without drama, and feels like I could use it as a doorstop without scratching it.

Key Points

  • 5500mAh built-in battery that actually lasts
  • Up to 100W of power with Boost Mode
  • Paired with the 6ml iTank T for proper DTL performance
  • GTi Dual Mesh coils with consistent, long-lasting flavour
  • IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H rugged protection
  • Top airflow tank that resists leaking
  • Very pocket safe with the physical lock slider
  • Ideal for high VG liquids

Build Quality and Feel

This is one of the toughest devices I have ever handled. The metal frame feels like something from a toolkit, and the rubberised grip sections give it a satisfying shock-absorber feel. During the week, I accidentally knocked it off a workbench onto concrete. Nothing. Just a scuff that actually made it look better.

The 0.96-inch screen is bright, clean and easy enough to read in sunlight. The leatherette panel feels comfortable and gives you more grip when chain vaping. The physical lock slider is one of the most practical features. When it is in my pocket, I flip the slider and know nothing will fire or adjust accidentally.

It is heavier than compact pods, but for a DTL mod with a 5500mAh battery, it feels surprisingly balanced.

Coil Performance and Flavour Testing

Vaporesso Armour Ultra Coils

GTi 0.2Ω Mesh Coil (60 to 75W)

This coil hits the proper warm DTL I like after lunch. I usually sit at around 65W, and the flavour stays strong and clear. Even thicker dessert liquids did not wash the coil out. Vapour density is impressive without feeling oversaturated.

GTi 0.4Ω Mesh Coil (50 to 60W)

This became my “walking the dog” coil because it runs cooler and sips less battery. Flavour is still clean and consistent. The coil actually surprised me with how long it held flavour. I got through multiple refills without any sign of dullness.

Heat and chain vaping behaviour

One of the biggest standouts is how cool the mod stays. I chain-vaped both coils on purpose to see if the chassis warmed up. It barely changed temperature. The iTank T itself stayed stable too, probably thanks to the top airflow design.

Airflow and Draw Accuracy

I generally prefer bottom airflow for flavour, but the iTank T’s top airflow is well-tuned. Fully open gives a smooth, slightly airy draw without any whistling. Closing it down gives a tighter DTL inhale with more resistance that suits dessert flavours nicely.

The airflow dial is smooth, with enough tension that it does not move in pockets, yet it adjusts easily in hand.

Battery Life and Charging Notes

Vaporesso Armour Ultra Battery Performance

The battery is absolutely the star here. A true 5500mAh internal pack means I ran it at 65W for most of the day and still had battery left after dinner. Only on days when I was testing multiple flavours and chain vaping did I need to recharge earlier.

Charging is quick, although the rated 2A seems optimistic. It still refilled in a reasonable time, though. The battery capacity is as good as advertised, which is rare for a built-in mod.

Ease of Use and Everyday Practicality

Vaporesso Armour Ultra Usability

For a 100W mod, the Armour Ultra is surprisingly easy to live with. No leaks thanks to the top airflow. The fill system is simple: push the cap, fill, slide back. The fire button is big and clicky with zero rattle.

Walking around with it, the weight feels reassuring rather than overbearing. It sits nicely in one hand, and the rounded edges stop it from digging in.

I would change the menu naming. Boost, Pulse, Eco, etc. I get what Vaporesso is going for, but sometimes I just want simple wattage. Still, once set up, you rarely need to go back into the menu.

FAQs: What Users Actually Want to Know

Vaporesso Armour Ultra Axon Chip

1. How long does the 5500mAh battery realistically last at different wattages?
In real use, I consistently got a full day at around 60 to 70W with the 0.2 ohm GTi coil. On lighter days, where I switched to the 0.4 ohm coil and kept it around 50 to 55W, the battery pushed into a second morning. The internal battery behaves more like a dual-battery mod than a single-cell because of the capacity.

2. How does the Armour Ultra feel to carry all day?
It is heavier than a pod mod, but the weight is balanced and comfortable. Once I got used to it, the weight felt reassuring, not inconvenient.

3. Does the rugged rating matter in real use?
Yes. I dropped it from pocket height onto concrete, and it took the hit without damage. The rugged design is not marketing fluff.

4. How good is the flavour compared with other DTL coil systems?
GTi coils deliver warm, dense flavour at their recommended wattages. Not the absolute strongest flavour on the market, but well above average for a kit tank.

5. How fast does it actually charge compared with the spec sheet?
It charges fast enough, but not at the full 9V/2A claim. Expect roughly two hours for a near-empty battery.

6. Does it get warm during chain vaping?
The tank warms slightly at high wattage, but the mod stays cool. Heat management is excellent.

7. How reliable is the lock slider?
Very. It never slipped once and instantly disables all buttons when engaged.

8. Is the top airflow worth the small flavour trade-off?
Absolutely, if you want leak prevention. Flavour stays strong, and the peace of mind is worth the small sacrifice.

Overall Take After a Full Week With It

Vaporesso Armour Ultra Portable

After a week of solid use, I am confident saying the Armour Ultra, produced by Vaporesso, is one of the most reliable, hard-hitting and durable DTL kits I have used in a long time. The battery life alone sets it apart, but the build quality pushes it into a different category entirely. It is the kind of device you buy when you want something that performs consistently without needing gentle treatment.

If you want a rugged DTL mod with proper staying power and consistent flavour, this is an easy recommendation. Whether you work outdoors, travel often, or just want a kit you do not need to baby, the Armour Ultra will handle it.

SMOK Novo Classy Pod Vape Kit Review

0

Real Use and How It Actually Performs

When I first unboxed the Smok Novo Classy, it struck me as a slightly more grown-up Novo. The body has that familiar compact shape, but the larger screen and bigger battery give it a more serious feel. I carried it around for days, switching between the 0.8-ohm and 0.6-ohm CLX pods depending on my mood. I used it during my morning commute, at my desk where I tend to chain vape, and in a couple of longer sessions in the evenings when I prefer something a bit airier and warmer.

What stood out to me is its simplicity, while still offering features like wattage control, a decent screen, and an airflow slider that actually changes the draw. It feels like Smok tried to build something that bridges a casual MTL pod and a tiny RDL device, and in practice, it mostly succeeds.

Key Points

  • 1350mAh battery with all-day potential
  • Up to 35W output with clear on-screen controls
  • Works for both MTL and restricted DTL vaping
  • 0.96 inch TFT screen showing wattage, battery and puff count
  • Button fire and inhale activation
  • Adjustable airflow slider with a noticeable range
  • Two CLX pods included with integrated mesh coils
  • Side fill pods for clean refilling

Build Quality and Feel

Smok devices tend to feel solid, even when small, and the Novo Classy follows that trend. It has a slightly weightier feel compared with the older Novo models, but not enough to make it bulky. I like the rounded edges because they make it more comfortable to grip for long periods, especially at my desk, where I subconsciously keep it in my hand between puffs.

The screen is surprisingly useful. Many small pod kits use tiny displays that are barely readable, but this one is clear and bright. I found the puff counter handy because I like to track my heavier days. The button has a light click that is easy to find without looking.

Coil Performance and Flavour Testing

0.8 ohm CLX Pod (MTL)

This is the pod I spent the most time with. I vape nic salts through the morning and the 0.8 ohm coil gives a comfortable, tight MTL draw with the airflow nearly closed. Flavour is clean and consistent, especially with simple fruit and mint liquids. It doesn’t run too warm, and wicking stays consistent even when I chain vape during long calls.

After several refills, the flavour softened slightly, but the fall off was gentle. No dry hits as long as I gave it the usual ten minutes after the first fill.

0.6 ohm CLX Pod (Restricted DTL)

I switched to this pod in the evenings when I usually want something looser. With the airflow more open, the Classy gives a warm, restricted lung inhale that feels closer to a mini mod than a pod kit. Vapour production is fuller and more satisfying, especially at slightly higher wattage.

I used a thicker 70 VG liquid to test the claim that it handles high VG, and while it kept up fine, 50/50 or nic salts still feel more natural in this device.

Airflow and Draw Accuracy

The airflow slider actually matters here. Fully closed gives a noticeably tight MTL draw. Halfway open provides a balanced MTL-to-RDL cross between the two. Fully open with the 0.6 ohm pod gives a warm, restricted lung inhale that works surprisingly well for such a small device.

The pod does not wobble or shift in its pockets, although I did accidentally nudge it once or twice while fidgeting.

Battery Life and Charging Notes

SMOK NOVO CLASSY Battery Performance

The 1350 mAh battery lasted me a solid day on the 0.8-ohm pod. On heavier evenings, using the 0.6-ohm pod at slightly higher wattage, I dipped into the last bar by late evening. USB-C charging gets it back to full quickly enough that I could top it up while making dinner.

The wattage range is helpful because you can dial in the warmth you want. I used 12-15W on the 0.8-ohm pod and 20-25W on the 0.6-ohm pod.

Ease of Use and Everyday Practicality

Refilling is clean because the side fill port has a firm seal. I had no spills in pockets and the pod connection remained dry. The mouthpiece shape is comfortable and never felt sharp or awkward, even during long sessions.

I really liked having both button fire and auto draw. When I am walking, I tend to use the auto draw because it feels more natural, but when I am sitting at my desk, I prefer button fire because it gives a slightly more controlled hit.

The screen makes simple things easier. Changing wattage or checking remaining battery is quick and does not require guessing.

Problems, Annoyances and Surprises

  • The airflow slider is small which makes fine adjustments fiddly
  • The 0.6 ohm pod runs warm at higher wattages during long sessions
  • The side fill port works well but sits quite low, so you need to tilt the pod to see the fill level clearly
  • The device has a bit more weight than the typical Novo, which some may or may not prefer

Real World Testing Notes

  • No leaking across the entire week, just the usual light condensation
  • Mesh coils give a consistent flavour regardless of puff length
  • I preferred nic salts for smoothness, but freebase 50/50 also performs well
  • High VG works, but flavour feels slightly muted compared with 50/50
  • The battery life is better than most pod kits of similar size
  • The device feels balanced in the hand during long sessions

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • All day battery with fast USB C charging
  • Strong flavour from both mesh pods
  • Clear, useful screen
  • Works well for both MTL and restricted DTL
  • Comfortable to hold
  • Responsive button and auto draw options

Cons

  • Airflow slider is small for adjustments
  • Slightly heavier than the typical tiny pod kit
  • Side fill port requires tilting to see the fill level
  • Flavour softens gradually after several refills

My Final Thoughts After Living With It

SMOK NOVO CLASSY Modes

After spending a whole week with the Novo Classy, produced by SMOK, it sits in a sweet spot between a simple beginner pod kit and a compact enthusiast device. The combination of the bigger battery, proper wattage control, strong mesh pods and the airflow slider makes it more versatile than most pods its size. It handled my entire daily routine comfortably and gave me the flexibility to switch between a tight MTL in the morning and a warmer, restricted-lung inhale in the evenings.

If you want a refillable pod kit that stays easy to use but feels a bit more grown-up than the usual tiny pods, the Novo Classy is a solid choice. It is dependable, flavourful and practical, and the all-day battery genuinely makes a difference.

FAQs: Smok Novo Classy Pod Kit

1. How long does the Novo Classy battery last with real daily vaping?
With the 1350mAh battery I got a full day using the 0.8 ohm pod. Using the 0.6 ohm pod at higher wattage uses more power but can still last most of a day.

2. Which e liquid works best in the Novo Classy pods?
It works best with 50/50 or nic salt e liquids. High VG liquids can work in the 0.6 ohm pod but flavour is better with thinner blends.

3. Does the Novo Classy leak?
No leaking during my testing week. Only light condensation near the airflow slot which is normal.

4. Is the Novo Classy good for tight MTL vaping?
Yes. The 0.8 ohm pod with the airflow mostly closed gives a proper cigarette-like like tight draw.

5. Can the Novo Classy do restricted direct lung vaping?
Yes. The 0.6 ohm pod at higher wattage with open airflow gives a warm restricted lung inhale.

6. How fast does the Novo Classy charge?
USB C charging is quick. A near-empty battery gets close to full again in a short time.

7. How long do the CLX pods last before flavour drops?
I got several refills before the flavour softened. Dessert liquids fade sooner than mint or fruit.

8. Is this a good kit for beginners moving away from disposables?
Yes. It has simple refilling, auto draw, button fire and a clear screen that helps beginners get used to wattage control.

Elux Cyberover P1 Pod Kit Review

0

When I first picked up the Elux Cyberover P1, I was expecting something disposable-like, given the brand’s reputation. Instead, it felt more like a lightweight metal pod kit pretending to be a disposable for convenience. For the past week, I have had it on hand during my commute, in the kitchen while I cook, and even during a couple of long phone calls where I tend to chain vape without thinking. The big question was whether it worked as an actual daily refillable pod, not just a disposable alternative. It mostly does, with a few quirks worth knowing.

Key Points

  • Lightweight metal refillable pod kit designed for MTL and restricted lung vaping
  • Dual Mesh pods with 0.6 ohm included, 0.8 ohm optional
  • Simple top filling and inhale activation
  • 850mAh battery lasting close to a full day
  • Airflow slider that genuinely changes the tightness of the draw
  • Ideal for 50/50 or nic salt e liquids

Build Quality and Feel

Elux Cyberover P1 Build Quality and Feel

The brushed aluminium finish surprised me right away. Most entry-level pod systems go for plastic to save weight, but this still manages to stay extremely light. Mine lived in my jeans pocket most days, and I often forgot it was there. The faceted shape looks almost decorative, but it does make it easier to grip during long sessions.

The mouthpiece has a shape that feels natural between the lips, and the pod clicks into place with a soft but confident snap. I do fiddle with devices absent-mindedly, and this one holds firm with no rattling. The only thing I found slightly annoying is the airflow slider being quite small. Adjusting it mid puff becomes a bit awkward, especially when I’m walking.

Coil Performance and Flavour Testing

I used two flavours during my testing week. One was a sweet dessert nic salt I know well, and the other was a plain mint 50/50 freebase. Both behaved better than I expected for small Dual Mesh pods.

The 0.6 ohm pod gives a bit of warmth when I chain vape, especially in the late afternoon when I’m usually sipping coffee and taking longer pulls without meaning to. It never overheated, but I could feel the warmth more than with the 0.8 ohm version. The flavour stays very consistent. I did not get any dry hits, as long as I waited the recommended five minutes after filling a new pod.

The flavour drops slowly over time. On about the fourth refill of the sweeter liquid, it became slightly muted. This is normal for dessert flavours, but worth mentioning because mesh coils usually give you a gentle fade rather than a sudden burnout.

Airflow and Draw Accuracy

I prefer a tight MTL draw for most of the day, especially in the morning, and the 0.8-ohm pod feels perfect for that. When I slide the airflow nearly shut, I get something close to a cigarette-style pull. If you enjoy that proper resistance when using nic salts, it hits the mark.

In the evenings, I sometimes want a looser restricted lung hit. Opening the slider and using the 0.6 ohm pod gives more air and slightly more vapour, although it never becomes a wide-open lung vape. That is not the intention of this device anyway.

Do not fully close the airflow. I tried it once out of curiosity, and the pod instantly felt hotter because the coil is starved of airflow. Leaving even a small gap solves this.

Battery Life and Charging Notes

The 850mAh battery got me through most days comfortably. On my heaviest day, when I was doing video editing and vaping without noticing, it dropped to red by late afternoon. A quick Type C top-up takes under 30 minutes, which is genuinely helpful. I already have Type C cables everywhere, so the missing cable in the box did not annoy me, but others may find that less convenient.

The LED on the base is simple but does its job. Green means full, blue means half, and red means charge soon. I find the blue stage shorter when I am chain vaping, but that seems normal for small pod batteries.

Ease of Use and Everyday Practicality

Elux Cyberover P1 Pods

Refilling is easy. The mouthpiece pops off with a clean click, and the fill port is wide enough that I can refill without touching the bottle tip to anything inside. The side-fill line is clear, helping avoid overfilling.

The pod stays surprisingly clean inside the chamber. After a couple of long sessions, I saw a thin line of condensation near the airflow opening, but nothing that pooled or caused gurgling. The inhale activation is instant. Some devices give a slight delay, but this one fires as soon as you draw.

Problems, Annoyances and Surprises

  • The airflow slider feels too small for micro adjustments
  • No USB C cable included
  • The LED being on the base means you cannot see it during the puff
  • The 0.6 ohm pod runs warmer during chain vaping, especially with sweeter nic salts

Real World Testing Notes

  • Pod lifespan is solid for a small Dual Mesh coil
  • Nic salts give the smoothest and most consistent flavour
  • Freebase 50/50 delivers a sharper hit without any wicking issues
  • Device stays comfortable to hold during long sessions
  • No leaking during the full week, just light condensation
  • Pocket comfort is excellent due to the lightweight aluminium shell

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Strong flavour for a small refillable pod kit
  • Real airflow adjustment for both MTL and RDTL
  • Lightweight and comfortable to carry
  • Quick, clean refilling
  • Responsive inhale activation

Cons

  • No charging cable included
  • Airflow slider could be larger
  • LED placement is awkward to view
  • Flavour softens after several refills

Where the Cyberover P1 Actually Lands for Me

Elux Cyberover P1 Light Indication

After a week of constant use, the Cyberover P1, produced by ELUX, has won me over as a simple, dependable everyday pod system. It works exceptionally well as a move away from disposables because the flavour stays stable throughout the day and the draw feels familiar. The device does not pretend to be a performance kit. It focuses on consistency, smooth flavour and ease of use. If you want something lightweight that fits easily into daily life and you mainly vape nic salts, I would happily recommend it.

FAQs: Elux Cyberover P1 Pod Kit

1. How long does the battery last in real daily use?
I consistently got a full workday out of the 850mAh battery. On days when I vaped heavily, I needed a quick half-hour recharge.

2. Is the Cyberover P1 good for nic salts?
Yes. The Dual Mesh pods handle nic salts really well, and the flavour stays smooth even with higher strengths.

3. Does it leak or get messy over time?
I did not have any leaks. Only a small amount of condensation builds up near the airflow slot after long sessions, which is normal for pod systems.

4. How do I get a proper tight MTL draw?
Use the 0.8 ohm pod and slide the airflow almost closed. That gives a cigarette-like pull without feeling suffocated.

5. What is the difference between the 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm pods?
The 0.6 ohm pod is warmer and slightly airier, good for a restricted lung vape. The 0.8-ohm pod delivers a tighter, more traditional MTL draw.

6. What type of e-liquid should I use?
Stick with 50/50 freebase or nic salts. Thicker, high-VG liquids will not wick properly.

7. How do I know when to charge it?
The LED lights up during each puff. Green is high, blue is mid and red means it needs charging soon.

8. How long do the pods last before losing flavour?
I got several refills before the flavour began to soften. Sweet liquids shorten the lifespan slightly, but the fade is gradual.

The first thing I noticed about the Typhos was the depth of flavour from the very first puff. Uwell’s Pro-FOCS 4.0 flavour tech has taken things up a notch, producing dense, rich vapour without compromising coil longevity.

The chimney and vapour path are tightly engineered, so you don’t get the muddiness or airflow turbulence you sometimes find in rival kits. You can taste the difference in layered e-liquids, especially creamy fruit or dessert profiles.

Included coil options:

  • PF 0.6Ω Mesh (25–35W) – Smooth, warm, and ideal for RDTL vaping. Cloud production without sacrificing nuance.
  • PF 1.0Ω Mesh (15–22W) – Tight enough for cigarette-style MTL with excellent flavour separation and a punchy throat hit.
  • PF 0.3Ω Dual Mesh (35–45W) – Sold separately, but easily my favourite for freebase liquids. Thick clouds, full-bodied flavour, and reliable performance.

E-liquid Pairing Tips:

  • 0.3Ω: Freebase, max 70VG, bold flavours, airy draw.
  • 0.6Ω: 50/50 or 60VG blends, versatile for freebase or nic salts.
  • 1.0Ω: Ideal for 10–20mg nic salts or tighter MTL hits.

Dual Output Modes: Storm & Wave

This is where things get interesting. The Storm mode delivers instant power. I found it perfect for sharper e-liquids, such as citrus or menthol, where you want that early impact.

The Wave mode, by contrast, gives a smoother ride. It ramps power in pulses, bringing out hidden layers in more complex juices. I tested it on a spiced tobacco blend and was genuinely impressed with how it handled subtle transitions across the inhale.

Both modes offer different personalities, and switching between them adds a dimension of customisation not available on most pods.

Adjustable Stepless Airflow

Uwell Typhos Pod Airflow

The airflow dial on the Typhos has a weighty, smooth glide, with none of that cheap plastic wobble. From a tight MTL draw to a breezy RDTL inhale, you can tune your experience precisely.

During testing, I found the resistance held firm, and there were no accidental slips. This flexibility is a massive plus for those who alternate vaping styles depending on e-liquid or setting.

CoreShield Pod System & Leak Resistance

Uwell Typhos Pod System CoreShield

If you’ve ever had a pod device leak into your pocket (and let’s face it, we all have), then the CoreShield system is a godsend. I tested the Typhos for over a week, in hot weather and even upside down in a bag, and found zero leaks or condensation build-up.

The top-slide fill port works cleanly with fine-tipped bottles. Short, stubby bottle nozzles take a bit more angling but still work without a mess.

  • Pod material: PCTG – durable and resistant to harsh e-liquids.
  • Fill capacity: 6ml (or 2ml in EU/TPD areas) – less hassle refilling on the go.
  • Pod fit: Magnetic, secure but easy to remove for cleaning.

Real-World Vaping Experience: What to Expect

Over the course of a whole week of use, the Typhos impressed me with both power and restraint. I rarely dipped below 40% battery in a full MTL day, and it only took about 50–60 minutes to charge from 20% to full. That kind of efficiency is rare.

In the hand, the Typhos feels premium, solid, textured, and not too slippery. The anodised finish resists fingerprints and gives the device a robust edge.

Flavour pairing insights:

  • Storm mode hits hard—great for fruit blends and desserts that thrive on heat.
  • Wave mode shines with layered profiles, particularly bakery or tobacco notes.
  • Airflow control works beautifully for adjusting nicotine satisfaction without requiring adjustments to coils or wattage every time.

Smart Display & UI

The 1.05” screen is a joy to use, clear, bright, and responsive. With three display themes, it’s easy to personalise your interface. The day/night mode is also more than a gimmick: it reduces glare outdoors and saves battery at night.

You get all the stats you need:

  • Wattage
  • Resistance
  • Battery level
  • Puff count (up to 99,999)

The buttons are clicky and responsive, and there are no accidental adjustments in the pocket. Everything here feels intentional and built for real-world use.

Coil Lifespan Table

In terms of coil performance, I put each of the PF series through its paces using fruit, dessert, and tobacco e-liquids. Here’s what I found:

Coil Type Best Wattage Typical Lifespan
PF 0.3Ω Dual Mesh 35–45W 3–5 days (heavier VG)
PF 0.6Ω Mesh 25–35W 5–7 days (balanced use)
PF 1.0Ω Mesh 15–22W 6–9 days (nic salts)

Pros & Cons

Having put the Typhos through a full range of real-world scenarios, here’s my no-nonsense breakdown of where it excels and where there’s room for improvement:

Pros:

  • Flavour that holds up over time – Uwell’s Pro-FOCS coils deliver consistent performance across sweet, sharp, and subtle juices.
  • True 45W output – Enough power to satisfy serious RDTL users without veering into bulky mod territory.
  • CoreShield leak-resistance – I didn’t experience a single leak, even during heat, travel, and pocket use.
  • Battery life for the long haul—The 2000mAh cell genuinely lasts a full day (or more), depending on the settings.
  • Intuitive top-fill system – No need to remove the pod, just slide and fill.
  • Smart display with real utility – Useful, legible stats without clutter.
  • Flexible coil range – Something here for MTL, RDTL, and even light DL with the 0.3Ω.

Cons:

  • Slightly chunky for pocket MTL vapers – Not bulky, but not Caliburn-slim either.
  • Button-only activation – I prefer fire buttons, but some may miss the auto-draw feature.
  • No 0.8Ω coil option (yet) – A mid-range MTL coil would round out the PF lineup nicely.

Who Should Buy the Uwell Typhos?

This isn’t a beginner pod kit, it’s a performance-focused pod mod made for vapers who know what they want:

  • MTL & RDTL users who crave flavour, airflow control, and proper battery life.
  • Former Caliburn fans ready to upgrade to something stronger without going full box mod.
  • Vapers who travel or commute and want a leak-proof, high-capacity pod that won’t die midday.
  • Those tired of fiddly menus or fiddly pods – the Typhos keeps things clean and reliable.
  • Flavour chasers who want more than just a decent vape—it’s for those who notice flavour shifts between power curves.

If you want simplicity, performance, and flavour that lasts beyond day three, the Typhos delivers.

How Does the Uwell Typhos Compare?

I’ve tested a fair share of pod vape devices over the past year, and it’s clear the Typhos sits in a different tier to most everyday pod kits. Still, if you’re deciding between devices like the Caliburn G4 Pro or the SMOK Arco Digi, here’s how it stacks up where it matters most.

In real-world terms, the Typhos gives you more flavour flexibility, more power overhead, and a bigger battery than either of these alternatives — but you do trade off a little on compactness.

Comparison Table: Uwell Typhos vs Caliburn G4 Pro vs SMOK Arco Digi

Feature Uwell Typhos Caliburn G4 Pro SMOK Arco Digi
Max Wattage 45W 25W 30W
Battery 2000mAh 900mAh 1000mAh
Pod Capacity 6ml (2ml TPD) 2.5ml 3ml

Output Modes Storm & Wave Standard Customisable Power
Use Style MTL / RDTL MTL MTL / RDTL

My Take

If you’re stepping up from a basic pod kit, the Typhos gives you headroom — longer battery life, a higher wattage ceiling, and real flavour refinement with Storm and Wave modes. The Caliburn G4 Pro is lighter and simpler, but it is much more limited. The SMOK Arco Digi is a strong mid-tier pick, but still can’t match the Typhos in power or pod size.

For vapers who want a pod device that performs like a mod, the Typhos leads the pack.

The UK’s Vaping Boom: Over 5.6 Million Users as E-Cigs Overtake Traditional Smoking

A quiet revolution has been taking place across the UK, reshaping how millions approach nicotine use. New data from Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) confirms that vaping has moved from a niche alternative to a dominant trend, with the number of vapers soaring from just 800,000 in 2012 to over 5.6 million in 2024.

This dramatic rise marks one of the most significant shifts in public health in recent decades. While smoking rates continue to decline, vaping has emerged as a mainstream lifestyle choice, particularly among those looking for a less harmful substitute to traditional cigarettes.

From Quit Aid to Cultural Movement

Originally developed as a tool for smokers looking to reduce harm, vaping is now firmly embedded in British consumer culture. Many vapers continue to cite smoking cessation as their motivation, but the data also reveals a shift in usage patterns.

A 2024 study published by The Lancet Public Health Journal found that more than one million people in England who now vape have never smoked at all. For some, this reflects a preference for modern nicotine delivery systems over traditional tobacco. For others, it’s about flavours, convenience, and the discreet, tech-enabled experience that vaping offers.

Young People and the Rise in Usage

The growth in vaping has been especially notable among younger demographics. ASH estimates that in 2024, around 390,000 young people aged 11 to 17 (7.2%) vaped regularly in Great Britain, while approximately 280,000 (5.1%) of the same age group smoked.

This shift has prompted fresh public conversation around how vaping is presented and accessed, particularly by teenagers. With flavours, packaging, and advertising under renewed scrutiny, the UK government is acting decisively.

Policy Response: The Tobacco and Vapes Bill

The Tobacco and Vapes Bill, currently under consideration in the House of Lords, represents the UK’s most ambitious vaping legislation to date. If passed, it will prohibit the sale of tobacco and vape products to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009, to create a smoke-free generation.

The bill also proposes tighter restrictions on vape marketing, flavour categories, and product packaging. It would introduce the UK’s first vaping-specific tax, while increasing tobacco duty, signalling a growing effort to shape public behaviour through economic policy.

A Generation at a Turning Point

While the NHS continues to support vaping as a smoking cessation aid, the rising number of never-smokers taking up e-cigarettes reflects a broader cultural shift. Vaping is no longer only a tool for quitting—it has become a lifestyle, a market force, and for many, a statement of personal choice.

The challenge now lies in balancing access for adult smokers seeking alternatives with safeguards for younger people and first-time users. As the Tobacco and Vapes Bill moves forward, its impact will shape not just the vaping industry but the lives of millions of UK citizens in the years to come.

Stay tuned to Vape Life for more insights into the people, trends, and policies shaping the future of vaping in the UK.

Top 10 Vape Pods for Coil Longevity in 2025

Coil Life Isn’t Just Luck — It’s Engineering

You know the feeling, one week in, your flavour drops off, vapour thins out, and suddenly it’s time to change your pod coil. Again.

But what if coil longevity isn’t just about the juice you use or how hard you vape? What if specific devices are simply built better, with smarter airflow, more advanced coil materials, and internal systems that protect the wick like it’s the core of your vape life?

As vaping evolves, coil performance is no longer a matter of guesswork. In 2025, some pod systems are delivering weeks of clean flavour and thousands of puffs before even thinking about a swap. And it’s not by chance.

In this guide, we’re ranking the top 10 vape pod kits for coil longevity, based on real-world user feedback, internal testing across thousands of puffs, and the kind of coil design tech that’s setting a new standard in the industry.

But first, let’s get to the question most vapers are quietly asking: What makes a pod coil last longer?

What Affects Pod Coil Longevity?

Vape Pod Coil Longevity

If you’re spending more time replacing pods than enjoying your vape, chances are the problem lies somewhere in the engineering. Here are the five most significant factors that impact how long a coil lasts in a pod device:

1. Mesh Coil Design

Mesh coils heat evenly, which reduces hotspots that burn wicks prematurely. A wide surface area improves liquid absorption and flavour delivery, while the tighter structure distributes power more efficiently.

Why it matters: You’re less likely to burn the wick during chain vaping or while switching between juice flavours.

2. Airflow Control

Adjustable airflow allows you to fine-tune the coil’s temperature. Devices with wide-open airflow, running at high wattage, will naturally degrade coils faster, unless you can control the airflow.

Why it matters: More control means you can preserve flavour or boost vapour output without overdriving the coil.

3. Battery Consistency

It’s not just about how long your battery lasts, it’s about how steadily it delivers power. A well-balanced 1,000–1,500mAh battery will give your coil consistent voltage, rather than unpredictable peaks and drops.

Why it matters: Voltage spikes can cause sudden heat surges that scorch your wick, even with mesh protection.

4. Liquid Compatibility

High-sweetener e-liquids leave more residue on coils, leading to caramelisation and faster burnout. Some pod systems handle this better than others due to coil material, airflow geometry, or wick composition.

Why it matters: Even sweet or heavy VG blends can vape cleanly with the right coil and airflow setup.

5. Pod Build and Internal Pressure

Good pods are leak-resistant but not over-sealed. They maintain ideal internal pressure, allowing smooth e-liquid flow to the wick. Poor airflow design can cause flooding or dry out coils too quickly.

Why it matters: Balance is everything. The best pods manage airflow and pressure like tuned instruments.

Mesh coils are no longer an upgrade; they’re the new baseline for high-performance pod systems. From the OXVA XLIM Pro 2 to the Vaporesso XROS 3, the majority of our top 10 list is built around mesh coil integration, and that’s not a coincidence.

Understanding why mesh coils last longer begins with introductory thermodynamics and ultimately yields practical benefits that every vaper can appreciate.

Mesh vs Traditional Coils: What’s the Difference?

Traditional pod coils often use a single strand of round wire, wrapped in a spiral, which heats a small surface area. It works, but only just, especially under pressure from high-VG liquids or sweetened e-juices.

Mesh coils, on the other hand, are made from a fine sheet of perforated metal, laid flat or rolled into the coil housing. This gives a wider heating surface, resulting in:

  • Faster ramp-up time
  • Even heat distribution
  • Improved e-liquid saturation
  • Lower chance of dry hits or burnt cotton
  • More stable coil resistance over time

In a pod system where the power ceiling is limited, efficiency becomes everything, and mesh coils provide that efficiency better than any other design.

Heat Distribution: The Coil Killer You Don’t See

One of the primary causes of early coil burnout is the development of hotspots. A traditional wire coil often produces uneven heating across its surface, resulting in specific areas burning hotter than others. This scorches the cotton wick and creates that unmistakable burnt taste, even when there’s liquid in the pod.

Mesh coils don’t allow hotspots to form as easily. Their larger contact area spreads thermal energy consistently, protecting the wick and preserving flavour longer.

OXVA, Vaporesso, and Uwell have all doubled down on mesh coil development for this reason. It’s not just about vapour density anymore. It’s about clean, sustained performance.

What About Wattage and Power Management?

If you’ve ever used a pod system with wattage adjustment or smart mode, you may have noticed this: Lower wattage doesn’t always mean longer coil life.

In fact, underpowering a mesh coil can prevent full vaporisation of liquid, causing gunk buildup and condensation over time. Likewise, overpowering it can cause scorched flavour or coil deformation.

The best-performing pod systems manage power using:

  • Smart wattage caps (like on the XLIM Pro)
  • Battery-coil pairing algorithms
  • Voltage stabilisation under load

These aren’t just marketing features. They’re why a pod coil can last 4 refills instead of 2.

Does Airflow Really Help Coil Longevity?

Yes — and here’s why.

Proper airflow isn’t just about cooling the vapour or adjusting draw resistance. It actively controls the heat dynamics of the coil.

  • Wide airflow = more air, lower coil temp, slower wick degradation
  • Tighter airflow = warmer coil, richer flavour, more strain on cotton

E-Liquid and Coil Lifespan: Compatibility Counts

Some pod coils last longer than others purely because they’re better suited to the e-liquid being used. For example:

Juice TypeCoil Consideration
High VGNeeds strong capillary action to avoid dry hits
Nic Salts (50/50)Fine with smaller coils, but benefits from mesh
Sweetened or DessertCan cause fast caramelisation on standard coils
Menthol/FruitGentler on coils, especially with mesh

Devices with mesh coils, pressure-balanced airflow, and organic cotton wicks are more resilient against sugary residue. That’s why Vaporesso COREX, Uwell Pro-FOCS, and SKE Crystal Plus coils hold up over time, even with heavily flavoured juice.

Tips to Extend Coil Life (No Gimmicks)

If you’re serious about getting the most out of your pod coils, here’s what actually works:

  1. Prime properly: Let the juice soak in for 10 minutes before use
  2. Don’t chain vape dry: Wait a few seconds between puffs to avoid overheating the coil.
  3. Use airflow wisely: Open airflow reduces heat strain and prevents drying.
  4. Refill before it’s empty: Running the pod dry can damage the wick and shorten its lifespan.
  5. Clean contacts regularly: Prevents misfiring and voltage spikes.

A well-maintained coil, with smart usage, can double its expected distance, especially in devices built to support that longevity.

What Defines a Coil That Lasts?

Fewer Replacements, Better Flavour

It’s easy to assume that coil burnout is just part of the game, that flavour drop-off and pod replacements are a fixed cost of vaping. But 2025 has proved otherwise. Engineering now matters as much as the e-liquid you use, and some pod systems are treating coil protection like a design philosophy, not an afterthought.

From mesh architecture to smart battery tuning, and from airflow precision to wick integrity, the best devices are blending form and function to deliver coils that not only last longer but perform better right up to the final puff.

What we’ve seen across the year’s highest-rated kits’ coil longevity comes down to three core elements:

  • Consistency of power delivery
  • Quality of the coil material and wick
  • Balance between airflow, wattage and saturation

And while branding often dominates shelf appeal, the best-performing systems let the performance speak for itself, week after week, refill after refill.

If you’re someone who prefers fewer replacements, better flavour retention, and a pod system that respects your e-liquid and your time, then start where it matters most: with a coil that’s built to last.

Understanding the Types of Propylene Glycol in E-Liquid

If you’ve ever looked closely at an e-liquid bottle, you’ve probably noticed propylene glycol listed as one of the main ingredients. Often shortened to PG, it’s the quiet workhorse in your vape — delivering flavour, enhancing throat hit, and balancing the mix with vegetable glycerine. But here’s where things get interesting: not all PG is the same, and when it comes to inhalation safety, the type used matters more than most vapers realise.

At The Vape Shop, only USP and EP grade propylene glycol is used across all blends, including a natural e-liquid range. This article examines the various types of propylene glycol used in vaping, their differences, and why pharmaceutical-grade PG is the only type that should ever reach your tank.

What is Propylene Glycol in Vaping?

Propylene glycol is a colourless, odourless liquid that’s used in everything from food flavourings to asthma inhalers. In vaping, PG works as a carrier, helping flavours blend smoothly while giving a satisfying throat sensation. It’s also thinner than VG, which makes it ideal for pod systems and flavour-forward mixes.

But behind the simplicity of this ingredient lies a crucial distinction: the grade of propylene glycol can determine whether it’s safe for inhalation, or more suited to antifreeze and paint thinners.

Breaking Down the Types of Propylene Glycol

There are four main types of PG you may come across, either in e-liquid manufacturing or on ingredient lists. Understanding the difference is crucial, especially for vapers who value quality and transparency.

Table: Types of Propylene Glycol and Their Key Differences

Type of PGPurityIntended UseSafe for VapingCommon Applications
USP Grade PG≥99.8%Pharmaceutical, inhalation, food✅ YesInhalers, e-liquid, medical carriers
EP Grade PG≥99.5%Pharmaceutical (EU), inhalation✅ YesE-liquid, medicine, personal care products
Food Grade PG≥99.5%Ingestion only⚠️ PossiblyFlavourings, cosmetics
Industrial Grade PG95–99%Technical and industrial use❌ NoAntifreeze, plastics, paint solvents

Both USP (United States Pharmacopeia) and EP (European Pharmacopoeia) grades meet extremely strict standards for purity and safety. These are the only two types of PG truly suitable for inhalation through vaping.

What Makes USP and EP Grade PG Safe?

USP and EP grade PG is produced under pharmaceutical-level conditions. The manufacturing process involves multiple stages of purification, including fractional distillation and filtration, to ensure no harmful impurities are left behind. Final batches are tested against stringent purity criteria and monitored for residual solvents, microbial contaminants and heavy metals.

Because of this, pharmaceutical-grade PG is used in products designed for the lungs, like medical nebulisers and inhalers, not just e-liquids.

When vapers talk about clean flavour, smooth delivery and predictable performance, USP and EP grade PG is what makes that possible.

Why The Vape Shop Uses Only USP/EP Grade PG

The Vape Shop uses USP/EP Grade Propylene Glycol

At The Vape Shop, we’ve built our formulations on ingredient integrity, especially in our natural e-liquid collection, which avoids artificial sweeteners and unnecessary additives. Our commitment to USP/EP propylene glycol ensures that:

  • You get consistent, clean flavour delivery across all devices
  • The vapour is smooth and irritation-free
  • You’re vaping PG that meets the highest safety standards available.

Each batch of PG used by The Vape Shop is traceable to verified pharmaceutical suppliers and meets the same standards required for medical use. It’s part of what makes our natural range suitable for discerning vapers who prioritise health and purity.

Is Food Grade PG Safe for Vaping?

Here’s where things get murky. Food-grade propylene glycol might meet high standards for ingestion, but it’s not always batch-tested for inhalation. That means it can still contain trace impurities that wouldn’t be a problem in your mouth, but may be unsuitable for your lungs.

While some manufacturers may rely on food-grade PG to cut costs, The Vape Shop has chosen to stay aligned with pharmaceutical benchmarks, prioritising quality, not shortcuts.

Addressing Common Questions Around Propylene Glycol

Is propylene glycol the same thing as antifreeze?
No. While PG is used in some non-toxic antifreeze blends, that refers to industrial-grade PG, not the pharmaceutical-grade used in e-liquids.

Is PG bad for you?
Inhalation safety largely depends on the grade and purity. USP/EP PG is recognised as safe for inhalation when used correctly. Industrial or technical grades should never be inhaled.

Can PG cause irritation?
Some people with sensitivities may notice dryness or a scratchy throat. Switching to a higher VG blend or ensuring the PG is USP grade often solves the issue.

The Standard Behind the Vapour

Not every e-liquid is created with the same attention to safety or sourcing. If you’re someone who wants to know precisely what you’re inhaling, it’s worth understanding the types of propylene glycol out there.

At The Vape Shop, we use only USP and EP-grade PG because your lungs deserve better than industrial shortcuts. For flavour you can trust and vapour you can feel good about, always start with the cleanest foundation possible.
