    The Addictive Bit<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Nicotine is the addictive element in the traditional cigarette and in small doses is no more harmful to you than caffeine<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0 It is an <\/span><\/span>extremely fast-acting drug, reaching the brain within 15 seconds of being inhaled<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> but <\/span><\/span>t<\/span><\/span>here<\/span><\/span> is no evidence that nicotine causes any substantial risk for cancer, and the research shows that the risk for cardiovascular disease is minimal. In fact, for quite a few people, nicotine helps them focus and be more productive, overcoming attention-deficit-type problems and providing relief from stress, anxiety, or panic \u2013 which is why it is so addictive.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

      The Bad Bit<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Smoking is the largest cause of preventable death in the world.<\/span><\/span> The effects of smoking are serious; it can harm nearly every organ in your body. <\/span><\/span>Almost everyone knows that smoking causes lung cancer but it also causes cancer of the <\/span><\/span>nose, mouth, larynx (voice box), trachea, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, cervix, bone marrow and blood<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0 It can cause emphysema and heart disease.\u00a0 It can shorten your life by 10 years or more and<\/span><\/span> it prematurely ages your skin and dulls your hair.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>W<\/span><\/span>hen<\/span><\/span> you smoke – the entire process <\/span><\/span>from when you light up your cigarette to when you exhale \u2013 leads to several drastic and disastrous effects on the body. <\/span><\/span>There are approximately <\/span><\/span>600 ingredients<\/span><\/span><\/a> in a cigarette,<\/span><\/span> mostly disgusting but benign things like <\/span><\/span>tar<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>While these ingredients are approved as additives for foods<\/span><\/span> and are not dangerous in themselves<\/span><\/span>, they were not tested by burning and inhaling them.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>When burned, <\/span><\/span>many of these substances change their properties, often for the worse<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> creating<\/span><\/span> more than 7,000 chemicals <\/span><\/span>including carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, and DDT.<\/span><\/span> At least 69 of these chem<\/span><\/span>icals are known to cause cancer<\/span><\/span> and many are poisonous<\/span><\/span> –<\/span><\/span> which you then breathe directly into your lungs.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

        The Alternative Bit<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        E-cigs and Vaping devices<\/span><\/span><\/a> do burn small amounts of chemicals, yes \u2013 but not nearly as many as a cigarette.\u00a0 It has now been shown that vaping is up to 95% – <\/span><\/span>that\u2019s 95%<\/span><\/span> – less harmful to you.\u00a0 With a vaping device you can control the amount of nicotine you receive which means that you can get that addictive hit without having the harmful cocktail that goes with it and if your aim is to quit then you can slowly, at your own pace, lessen the nicotine dosage until you are<\/span><\/span> just<\/span><\/span> left with a refreshing flavour hit of your choice.\u00a0 Is it effortless on your part?\u00a0 Is anything?\u00a0 No, you have to want to quit, it has to be a conscious decision to treat your body better<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> but does it help?\u00a0 Well, that is up to you to decide \u2013 for me, it\u2019s an overwhelming yes!<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
